iRacing's been around for a while, and since LFS is slowly dying while the S3 comes out, the SRT community decided to try out the iRacing.
This game has all you need - a lot of servers, great graphics, ingenious simulation and realism, and most important a great and healthy community of proffessional drivers with a lot of racing capabilites. It is a bit pricy, starting at around 10-12 american dollars, but there is a discount available which gives you three months of gameplay for only 12$.''
The game comes with several tracks and cars, but to compete in some championships you will have to buy add-on cars and tracks. The game offers you a variety of options to set up the controls and the graphics, which gives you a lot of space to tinker the settings to your liking.
The game has very good graphics so you will need a semi high-end PC to run it properly.
It is only playable with a racing wheel and supports all avalible (Fanatec, Thrustmaster, Logitech...) Overall the game is great and it's the best bang for the buck available now considering those discount prices.
G25 review
The G25 is the newest wheel from Logitech. It is a huge upgrade and a sort of a revoluton in the simwheel business. The pedals are amazing, the wheel is amazing, the shifter and the buttons are amazing, everything is just so much better than the DFP that it shows how fast Logitech improves it's products.
The pedals feel solid, fast response, no deadzone, great feel and a lot of resistance coming from the springs.
The wheel itself is a dual motor force feedback 900 degrees turning machine. It is wrapped in hand stiched leather and finished off with a nice alluminum base.
There are a couple of things wrong with the G25, for instance the shifter feels loose and toyish with its clicking sounds. The wheel produces a lot of noise due to straight cut gear system (which also gives it more resistance) and the number of buttons on the wheel is 2 which makes it too little for any sim racer.
But as a package, the wheel is great, the feel is great, it's solid, great quality, durability, mounting process and the installation of the drivers go smoothly etc. So the G25 is the best bang for the buck out there. Enjoy the rest of your week,
